'City of Light' - A Fundraiser for Lebanon
After more than a year of unspeakable violence in Gaza and the ongoing genocide of Palestinians, Lebanon is now also being subjected to extreme terror at the hands of the Israeli regime. On the 14th of December, Operator will take part in a fundraiser for Lebanon at murmur in Amsterdam, in collaboration with One State Collective, Riwaq, Radio Alhara and Echobox Radio. This way, we want to express our solidarity with the Lebanese people. 'City Of Light' will feature a full day program hosted by the One State Collective. The goal is to learn from Lebanese history, resilience and resistance. Afterwards we'll have an evening of music highlighting the Lebanese diaspora. Half of the funds will support Riwaq Beirut, a music and community space actively leading relief efforts by providing hot meals, medical supplies, and essential items to displaced individuals in Beirut. The remaining funds will be distributed among local NGOs focused on children’s education and psychological support, aid for migrant workers abandoned by employers, grassroots assistance for families in Gaza, and direct action initiatives in the Netherlands. In the exercise of our solidarity, we must look to Lebanon, and to the Lebanese people, for guidance. We must acknowledge that we have a lot of learning to do. Please come join us for this important event (grab a ticket here), and if you can't make it, we will stream the evening program on Radio Alhara, Echobox and Operator. You can already donate to the campaign here.
